Abstract

Full-duplex (FD) wireless communication, the
simultaneous transmission and reception of wireless
signals on the same frequency channel, has
garnered significant attention from the research
community over the past decade. Softwaredefined
radio (SDR) has become instrumental
in bridging the gap from theory to implementation,
providing the flexibility necessary to design
and deploy FD radio nodes, links, and networks.
As part of the Full-Duplex Wireless: From Integrated
Circuits to Networks (FlexICoN) project,
we have developed three generations of IC-based
FD radios that utilize GNU Radio as the primary
control and signal processing platform. This paper
presents an overview of the design considerations
and techniques for implementing FD in
GNU Radio, from the transmit and receive signal
processing chains to broader testbed integration.
