Bringing Transmit Antenna Diversity to LPWANs: An Experimental Testbed Implementation
Abstract
In this paper, we present a Software-Defined Radio (SDR) testbed implementation of an experimental waveform for Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) in GNU Radio. The code is made available on GitHub. Designed specifically for the uplink in LPWANs, the waveform is based on Differential Spatial Modulation (DSM) and Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA). We provide a detailed overview of the testbed implementation with an emphasis on the synchronization process as well as results from simulations and over-the-air measurements in a lab environment.
